Amazon GuardDuty Malware Protection now supports S3 continuous backups, enabling malware scanning for recovery points. This feature allows users to identify clean points in time, verify recovery safety, and initiate restores with greater confidence. Support is available in all regions where GuardDuty Malware Protection is offered, accessible via the AWS Backup console, API, or CLI.

  • GuardDuty Malware Protection now supports S3 continuous backups

    Amazon GuardDuty Malware Protection for AWS Backup now includes support for Amazon S3 continuous backups. This allows users to scan their S3 continuous backups for malware and identify safe recovery points within their backup timeline.

  • Flexible malware scan options for S3 continuous backups

    Users can enable full or incremental malware scans for S3 continuous backups directly within their backup plans. On-demand scans are also available up to any restorable point in time.

  • New API for querying malware scan status

    The GetPITRMalwareScanResults API allows users to query the malware scan status at any point in time within their continuous backup. This enables verification of recovery time safety before initiating a restore.
