Google Cloud VPC: General Availability for Resolve subnet mask

infragcpgaengineergcp-compute-engine
feature

Google Cloud's Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) now supports the Resolve subnet mask setting for subnets in General Availability. This feature allows Compute Engine instances attached to a subnet to inherit the subnet's netmask, enabling direct communication between instances within the same subnet using MAC addresses. This enhancement is now available to all users operating Compute Engine instances within VPC networks.

Features (1)
  • Virtual Private Cloud General Availability

General Availability : You can use the Resolve subnet mask setting on a subnet to configure all attached Compute Engine instances with the same netmask as the subnet (instead of /32 ). Configuring larger instance netmasks lets compute instances discover the MAC addresses of other machines within the same subnet and directly communicate with them by using destination MAC addresses. For more information, see Compute instance netmasks .
