AWS Interconnect adds free 500 Mbps tier for multicloud connectivity

AWS Interconnect now offers a free 500 Mbps tier for private multicloud connectivity, simplifying cross-cloud connections for customers. This managed service provides resilience and is compatible with Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud, with Azure support planned. The free tier allows evaluation and operation of workloads between AWS and another CSP at no charge on the AWS side, including a CloudWatch Network Synthetic Monitor.

  • Free 500 Mbps tier for multicloud Interconnect

    AWS Interconnect now provides a free 500 Mbps tier, enabling customers to privately connect workloads between AWS and other public clouds at no charge on the AWS side. This managed service offers network path, facility, and device resiliency, comparable to paid offerings.

  • Enhanced multicloud connectivity and compatibility

    The service simplifies private connectivity to cloud service providers and supports an open specification adopted by Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Microsoft Azure support is planned for 2026.

  • Included CloudWatch Network Synthetic Monitor

    Each Free Tier multicloud Interconnect includes an Amazon CloudWatch Network Synthetic Monitor at no additional cost, aiding customers in monitoring network health and performance across clouds.

  • Free Tier limitations and usage

    The free tier is limited to one local (Tier 1) Interconnect per customer, per AWS Region to each CSP that is Generally Available with AWS. With 500 Mbps, customers can transfer approximately 160 TB of data per month for significant multicloud workloads.
