AWS Elemental MediaTailor: Configurable ad timeout and concurrency
AWS Elemental MediaTailor now allows direct configuration of ad decision server (ADS) timeout and concurrency settings via the console, CLI, or SDKs. This update empowers users to optimize ad delivery for better ad fill rates and faster video startup, particularly for live and VOD workflows. The new AdsPersonalizationTimeouts and AdsPersonalizationConcurrency parameters offer granular control over HTTP request timeouts and personalization time budgets. Features (1) ›
- Configure ad server timeout and concurrency
Users can now directly configure HTTP ad request timeouts, total ad personalization time budgets for live and VOD streams, and enable parallel ADS requests. These settings can be adjusted through the AWS Elemental MediaTailor console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDKs using new parameters on playback configurations.
Enhancements (2) ›
- Optimize ad fill and startup times
The new controls allow for workflow-specific optimizations, such as increasing personalization time budgets for live events to improve ad fill rates. Enabling parallel ADS requests in VOD workflows can also reduce response times for faster video startup.
- Granular control for livestreams
New prefetch-specific timeout settings provide additional granularity for livestream ad retrieval, offering further optimization opportunities.
