Anthropic Launches Claude for Teachers with Free Premium Access

Claude for Teachers is designed for educators only, with teacher-specific terms built for K-12 privacy. Data is not used for model training, and student information is protected by a K-12 Data Processing Addendum designed to comply with FERPA. Anthropic is collaborating with the American Federation of Teachers on safety and privacy standards.

Anthropic introduces Claude for Teachers, offering verified K-12 educators in the US free access to premium Claude capabilities, a library of teaching skills, and connections to evidence-based curricula aligned with academic standards. This service aims to help teachers implement best practices and improve student achievement by bridging the gap between educational goals and available resources.

The service enables educators to plan lessons by drafting plans and student-facing materials based on curricula and standards, and to differentiate instruction by adapting materials for students at various readiness levels. It also includes features like Claude Code and Cowork for tasks such as analyzing class data to plan instruction and scheduling repeated tasks.

Anthropic is also releasing an AI Fluency for K-12 Teachers course, co-created with Teach for America and the American Federation of Teachers. This model-agnostic, Creative Commons-licensed course covers suitable classroom AI tasks and responsible usage.

Claude for Teachers connects to Learning Commons, providing access to academic standards across all 50 states and learning competencies. It also integrates with trusted curricular resources like OpenSciEd and IM v.360, and offers connections to tools such as ASSISTments, Canva Education, and MagicSchool for generating content and analyzing student data.
