Amazon WorkSpaces Linux Migration Now Available

Amazon WorkSpaces now supports migrating Linux WorkSpaces between operating systems, automating user data transfer and streamlining upgrades. This feature allows customers to move to newer OS versions or different distributions without manual intervention, improving user experience and IT efficiency. It is available for all supported Linux OSs in AWS commercial and GovCloud regions where WorkSpaces Personal is offered.

    Amazon WorkSpaces now supports the WorkSpace Migration feature for all offered Linux operating systems. This enables automated migration to newer OS versions or different Linux distributions, including user data in the home directory.

  • Streamlined Linux WorkSpace upgrades

    This feature allows customers to upgrade Linux WorkSpaces by migrating to newer operating systems without disruption to end users or manual data copying. The user data is automatically moved to the new WorkSpace's home directory during migration.

  • Availability of Linux WorkSpace Migration

    The WorkSpace Migration feature is now supported for all Linux operating systems in AWS commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions where Amazon WorkSpaces Personal is supported.
