Amazon EC2 R8i and R8i-flex instances, powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, are now available in the AWS GovCloud (US-East) Region. These instances offer up to 15% better price-performance and significantly higher memory bandwidth compared to previous generations. They are ideal for memory-intensive workloads, databases, web applications, AI recommendations, and SAP workloads, with R8i-flex providing flexible size options for varied compute utilization.

    R8i instances are designed for all memory-intensive workloads, particularly those requiring the largest instance sizes or sustained high CPU usage. They come in 13 sizes, including bare metal options and a new 96xlarge size.

  • SAP-certified performance with R8i instances

    R8i instances are SAP-certified, delivering exceptional performance for SAP workloads with 142,100 aSAPS. This makes them a strong choice for mission-critical SAP applications.

    The R8i and R8i-flex instances offer up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth than previous Intel-based instances. They provide 20% higher performance than R7i instances, with specific workload gains such as up to 30% faster PostgreSQL databases.
